Passion – The Bob Seger Experience

Public Speaking, Bob Seger, & Passion

Last week on the show I talked about Bob Seger…
The Secret to Great Public Speaking

Why did I talk about him?
I love Bob Seger–not because of his music, but because of his passion. I went to a concert when I was high school and I when I was watching Bob and his band play I felt like they were just a bunch of high school boys horsing around and playing music in someone’s basement. (I inserted some pictures below that I took that night.)

You know, guy bonding. It seemed as if it just didn’t matter to them that an audience of 40,000 was watching. They were just having a great time playing and singing. They were in the moment, passionate, and energetic. It made me full of energy and enthusiasm. It was contagious.

This is what we all want from performers–I call it “the Bob Segar experience”

Think about the people in your life that have influenced you the most. (Really, take a second to think about it.) It’s likely you have your own Bob Segar’s in your memory–the high school chemistry teacher that made Chemistry the most amazing topic, the music teacher that instilled a love of music that has been with you your entire life, the parent or relative that took extra time to listen and engage with you. It’s the people who are full of excitement that help make us full of excitement.

What do you get excited about?

I love photography.  I took these photos when I was in high school at the Bob Seger concert. That show (and I had gone to hundreds of concerts) was the one that had the most impact on me.
