How much do Public Speakers Make?

Every wondered how much professional speaker’s charge for a keynote speech? I saw a post recently that listed some. I thought you might be interested to see…besides their public speaking fees makes MY keynote fee seem VERY REASONABLE!!!

I know, I know, I’m no Donald Trump–but, hey I am “The Public Speaker” <smile>

Here are examples one-hour keynote fees:

Donald Trump /  $1-1.5 million
Ronald Reagan /  $1 million
Tony Blair /  $616,000
Bill Clinton / $150,000- $450,000
Rudy Guilani / $270,000
Alan Greenspan / $250,000
Lance Armstrong / $100,000 and up
Al Gore / $100,000-150,000
Richard Branson / $100,000 and up:  though many other companies have been rumored to have paid more.
Sarah Palin / $100,000 and up
Guy Kowasaki / $38,000

Lisa B. Marshall / $5,000 and up

Average “honorarium” for academic speaker = $500 (keep in mind most academic speakers are making a salarary–so this is just a token “thank-you” for coming.

Beginning speaker / =$0 and up, but mostly zero

I’m a full-time college student and I was thinking of getting into public speaking. How does one get into public speaking and want kind of jobs are out there?

Thank you

I would suggest that you start by choosing an area of expertise first (something you are interested in) and fully immerse yourself in that. Then, opportunity will come to speak about that. Think of being an expert first, then a speaker.

Your observations are exactly right. With lot of in depth study and interaction with cross section of the people in the industries has brought an insight. This has enabled me to share my experiences with others in a very articulate way.
