Invention Project – My Young Entrepreneurs

Today, I spent several hours researching possible inventions! Why? Well, my daughters were assigned an invention project for school. Parents are allowed to help as long as the idea is their’s to begin with.

Not surprisingly, each of my daughters came up with an idea for organizing stuff. (The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree!). I never really realized it, but I’m a bit of an organizing nut. The people that clean my house pointed it out to me one day. It’s funny growing up and even in my early 20’s I was a “messy bessy” but once I started to see the value of organizing tools/systems, I was hooked.

So, what are the ideas?

Daniela is creating a magnetic jewelry organizer. She is modifying a project that she and her sister (and our nanny at the time) created a few years ago. After my father passed away, the girls wanted to keep his magnetic push pin board because he had modified it…let’s just say he really didn’t use as a push pin board. The girls took his original idea and then “girlified” it! They created a customized jewelry organizer. The girls have been using it ever since and I have to say–it really is a great organizer.  In fact, I always wished I has one myself but there wasn’t anything on the market like it. This project gave Daniela the perfect excuse to modify it even more! I am very excited for her. She found these great pushpin super strong refrigerator magnets that we are going to use along with some other really cool fun products.

Ariana is also working on an organization product, but in her case, she was interested in organizing her school desk. She has some great ideas about how to make better use of the school desk. She wants to create a swivel desk drawer along with dividers for inside the desk. She also has some ideas also for adding some hooks. I think this is going to be great too!

I can’t wait to see the finished prototypes.

The girls are so excited! Ariana just said to me, “Here we come Shark Tank!”
